The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc on the economy, especially small businesses. It has also highlighted societal problems such as racial health disparities, precarious supply chains, and food insecurity for hardworking families. In this discussion-based session, we will brainstorm ways to incorporate impact into your business plan. Participants will gain actionable ideas for growing three bottom lines ? financial, social, and environmental ? so their companies can thrive after COVID-19.
Presenter - Makaela Kingsley Director, The Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship Makaela Kingsley is Director of the Patricelli Center for Social Entrepreneurship. She teaches courses on social change theory and practice, and she runs programs that support student entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and changemakers. A 1998 graduate of Wesleyan, Makaela previously held positions in Wesleyan?s advancement office focused on alumni relations, volunteer management, and event planning. She began her career at the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts where she worked in development and public relations. Outside of the Patricelli Center, Makaela volunteers on the boards of Open Communities Alliance, CTNext?s Higher Ed initiative, and the Jaylen D. Berry Foundation. She has served as a Coach for AshokaU Commons, a mentor for Yale?s entrepreneurship programs, a judge for Echoing Green and the Grinnell Prize, and a guest speaker and judge for reSET.
