VIRTUAL LUNCH & LEARN: Analysis of Drug Test Results Before and After the U.S. Declaration of a National Emergency Concerning the COVID-19 Outbreak

Presented by: Joseph Stanton, PhD
Associate Director, Clinical Affairs
Millennium Health

The COVID-19 pandemic has broad impacts on public health and has been implicated in rising drug overdose deaths. Pandemic-related stressors may also increase substance use in general.

Millennium Health is uniquely positioned to identify trends in drug use through analysis of its proprietary database of urine drug testing (UDT) results. This program includes data from a peer-reviewed publication, co-authored with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, comparing UDT results for non-prescribed fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine in the periods before and after COVID-19 was declared a national emergency on March 13, 2020. Findings include national and regional changes.
