SARAH Inc. is now Lumibility!
SARAH Inc., a Connecticut-based nonprofit with over 60 years of service, is proud to announce its rebranding and name change to Lumibility, pronounced “loom-uh-BIL-ih-ty.” This significant transformation marks their establishment as an independent organization, separate from the SARAH family of agencies. The rebranding initiative allows Lumibility to amplify its impact and bring renewed energy to its mission: to enhance skills and transform lives for all individuals with differing abilities.
Lumibility is a blend of "illuminate" and "ability," highlighting the team’s dedication to empowering individuals, fostering positivity, and leading the way to a future where each person's unique abilities shine. The name change underscores the commitment to illuminating and enhancing the lives of the individuals they support.
"This transition signifies a new chapter for our organization, providing us with the autonomy to focus more intensively on our mission and the individuals and families we support," says Denise Daviau, CEO of Lumibility. "We are excited about the opportunities this rebranding will bring, enabling us to better enhance and empower our community."
Formerly known as SARAH Inc., Lumibility has a longstanding history of providing high-quality support to children, adults, and their families. The organization has grown significantly in recent years, expanding its services and reach across Connecticut in six counties. Notably, Lumibility's Kidsteps Birth to Three Program has become Connecticut's largest nonprofit early intervention provider, serving fifty-one towns.
Recent Initiatives and Accomplishments:
- In the summer of 2023, Lumibility launched its Assistive Technology department to meet the growing demand for innovative solutions for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- To address the shortage of summer programming for young adults, Lumibility will host its first-ever camp! Camp Connect will support young adults with autism, ages 16 to 18, for a week-long immersive day camp on the grounds of Oxford Academy in August 2024.
- Lumibility Employment services continue to expand. Beginning in July 2024, transitional support for adults will be provided in the Trumbull and Shelton areas.
- The Kidsteps Birth to Three program continues to grow, supporting over 900 children and their families.
"We are committed to continuing our legacy of excellence while exploring new avenues to support those we serve," adds Daviau. "Lumibility embodies our vision for a brighter future where everyone's unique abilities are celebrated and supported."
